I'm stepping up against cancer!

This year, I’m taking on Relay For Life to raise funds for every person who’s ever heard the words: “you have cancer”.

In 2017, I heard those words. That year my daughter Casey encouraged me to do the Survivors lap....but I could not evem walk through the door without help. 5 different types of chemo for an agressive cancer were taking its toll, including giving me heart failure. I promised that the following year I woukd not only do the survivors lap but also walk with her as part of a team. At that minute, a grouo of riders rode in after completing a ride, which I thought was 86km over 5 days. I declared ai woukd join that team the following year. In 2019, I soon realised that it wasnt 86km over 5 days, but 400km. It was not the distance that was going to kill me...but the 'undulations'. Those hills are a killer.  But we all do it so that others have a chance od survivng. Training for my first Ride 4 Relay was tough...but made me fitter and beat heart failure.

I recently lost a friend and family member to cancer. We can not save everyone....but we can try.

 In 2024, more than 150, 000 Australians will receive the news. Among them are our friends, families and colleagues.

Cancer is a devastating disease for so many. For people living with cancer, their treatments can be long and stressful. For those without solutions, the future can be uncertain. It’s a concern shared by their loved ones.

But with your support, I hope to help as many people impacted by cancer as possible. Together, we can support families when they need it most, empower people to reduce their risk, speak up for communities, and find new ways to better detect and treat cancer.
