I'm stepping up against cancer!

Seven months ago, a simple self-check changed everything. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer — something I never expected, especially at a time when I was feeling healthy and strong.

Cancer has deeply affected my family and completely shifted my perspective on what really matters. The past year has been a huge journey of treatment, healing, and growth. It wasn’t easy, but I’m now through the hardest part and feeling vibrant, energised, and incredibly grateful for life.

During some of the toughest moments — when fear and uncertainty felt overwhelming — the care and support from Cancer Council helped carry me through. Their guidance, compassion and practical support truly buffered the experience and reminded me that no one has to face cancer alone.

This is why I’m taking part in Relay For Life — not just for myself, but for every person who has heard the words “you have cancer,” for the families and loved ones who walk beside them and for the loved ones we've lost.

In Australia, more than 150,000 people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Behind every number is a real person, a family, and a story.

By raising funds for Cancer Council, we help provide vital support services, fund life-saving research, advocate for those affected, and empower people to reduce their risk.

Every step I take at Relay is a step toward a future where fewer families face this journey.
