Final team update for 2026
Thank you to everyone for participating in the day. I hope everyone had a great time. 
We ended up finalists in the best team costume as well as best team site and although we didn’t get the win in either category, our site was amazing and was enjoyed by so many relayers. Check out the 2026 Relay for life teams fb page to see the photos and videos captured of the hopscotch, jenga and the photobooth pics from our site. 
We again brought home the shield for being the highest fundraising team. Plus we won best Sunsafe Hat and best Team Banner. 
Well done team, join us again next year when we do it all over again. 

Kids Fun Zone

We plan to have a Kids Fun Zone as part of our Team Site.
The aim is to get donations from any kids who want to participate in any of the activities on the day, with the proceeds adding to our team's fundraising total. We will have a Photo Booth, Giant Jenga game, Cornhole game and Inflatable Bumper Ball Suits. If anyone has any other games or activities suitable for the day, please contact either Sue or I. ONLY 1 WEEK to go. Set up will be from 8am with the Opening Ceremony at 10am. Please be on site by approximately 9am to ensure we are all ready to start on time.

Team update

Today we welcome Jade Thomson to our team. Jade is a friend of Dani M's who currently resides in Brisbane but is keen to return to Townsville for the event on 8th August. Jade is also an avid Artist, so we will definitely be utilising her skills to help create our team banner.
Our team donations currently sit at $21,093.67. This is a massive achievement on the part of our family, friends and work colleagues who have been so generous with their donations. 
We have less than 5 weeks till RELAY DAY, so get your walking shoes on, warm up those legs and make sure you are ready to take to the field and show our appreciation for the support we have received.

End of Financial Year Donations

A quick update and reminder that today is the end of the financial year, so if you are interested in making a donation and want to claim your tax deductable donation in the current financial year then todays the day!! Our team tally is currently sitting at $20,937 which is absolutely astounding and we are so very grateful for the support we have received. None of this is possible without you -our family, our friends, our work mates, our customers, suppliers and other business associates. You are the ones that make this happen. Once again, a huge thank you to you all.

The Vinyl Lobby, Bushland Beach

We would like to do a shout out to The Vinyl Lobby at Bushland Beach who came on board to assist us with printing our logos for our team shirts this week at a very reduced rate. Sent them a brief message and by the end of the day had our logos printed and ready for pick up. Fabulous customer service and so easy to deal with. If you have any vinyl printing jobs to do, look these guys up. Locals looking after locals.

Leaderboard update - Sue has taken the lead!

Sue hit the front yesterday afternoon with David R, David M & myself, not far behind her. Sue has remained in front for the past 24 hours, way to go Sue. Shane is only a couple of generous donations behind the four leaders.  Our entire team has been rallying their friends and family to keep a steady flow of donations coming in with our team total currently sitting at $19,635. We appreciate every donation big or small.

Oh what a difference a day can make...

So back to our internal team rivalry which saw Sue pop out in front for just a brief minute or two after receiving generous donations from Brown & Hurley, QCB & Holmwood yesterday. David M took the lead also briefly only to be knocked off the top by David R who slipped in front after more generous donations from Anderson Training, Hurst Constructions, Ausure Securus Brokers & Reichhold Enterprises. David R remains in front today with $3409 ahead of David M by only $5 at $3404, myself on $3323 and Sue on $3141.
We have increased our team target of $15000 to $25000 with our current team total sitting just over $18000. Massive thank you to all our friends, family, customers, suppliers and other business partners for your support as we could not achieve this without you.

RKS Contracting Mt Isa - we thank you!!

Over the weekend we had a significant donation from RKS Contracting in Mount isa, who not only donated $2,900 to David but also another $2,100 to myself and $1,000 to Danielle, a whopping total of $6,000. Thank you so much for your donation and support of our team and Relay for Life 2026. These donations brought our team tally up to $12,500 which is not far off what we raised in 2023. Well done team and thank you again to our family, friends and business partners as we couldn't achieve this without your support.

Final update for the week

Final update for the week and The Willow's Family has taken the lead on the Townsville Team Leaderboard with $6,432 in donations. Great job everyone but don't go resting just yet. Team goal is $15,000, so our next target is our halfway point of $7,500. 
7 weeks till relay day so still a bit of time to get those donations in. Have a great weekend everybody and once again a massive thank you to our family, friends and business partners for your generous donations and support for our team and this wonderful cause.

Wow, what a day!!

Massive thank you to our family, friends and business partners: RTE Custom Trucks, AMD Automotive Services, Road Surfaces Australia & Oakdare, who have donated more than $1,000 in the past 24hrs bringing our team donations to just shy of $6,000. Shane remains in front with his individual balance at $1,664 with Sue hot on his heels on $1,408. But more importantly the Willow's Family team is now only $371 off taking the lead as current highest fundraising team in Townsville for 2026.  We still have a long way to go to reach our team target of $15,000 so jump on board everyone and keep those donations coming in.

Almost at our first milestone of $5,000

We have almost reached our first milestone of $5000 with a whopping $4761 in team donations so far. Overnight I remained in the lead with Shane and Sue close behind, neck and neck, after both of them received donations from Austek Roads, Hiway Aus & BRW Transport. Then for a few hours today Sue took the lead after a generous donation from FGF Bitumen. However, Shane has once again taken the lead with another great donation from SOS Diesel. Huge thanks to all our business partners, family and friends for their support of our team and this wonderful cause.

Overnight leaderboard update

Well thanks to a generous donation from Bill & Colleen Rixon it looks like I have taken over the lead, for now. Shane & Sue are hot on my heels and Dani F is also following fast. Come on team, let's all get in on the friendly rivalry and see how many times we can change the leaderboard.

Friendly Rivalry

Well, the donations have started coming in and there's a bit of friendly rivalry happening to see who stays in the lead. Current leader is Shane with Dani F closely following. Not far behind is Sue, followed by myself and the Reids. Will keep you all posted as to who manages to keep the lead.

Team donations have now passed $2,000 which is fantastic, but we still a long way to go to reach our $15,000 goal.

Making Waves for a Cure 2026

In 2023, we participated in Relay for Life for the first time. Our team chose to honour the life of David Jamieson (Willow's Bitumen Haulage employee of approximately 19 years, who passed away after a long battle with blood cancer). We received an astounding amount of support from our friends, family and business partners which resulted in our team taking out "Highest Overall Fundraising Team", as well as "Highest Individual Fundraiser", "Most Laps by an individual", "Best Dressed Team" and a 2nd place in the "Karaoke" contest. Not a bad haul for our first year, but gee that has set the bar high for 2026. 

We are looking forwarding to stepping up again this year and if possible, outdo our previous record. 

With your support, we hope to help as many people impacted by cancer as possible. Every step we take is one closer to a cancer free future. Please donate to our Relay for Life team today and together we can make a difference.
