Last year, our team walked under the name "Live for Helen", inspired by the life and legacy of Helen Gordon.

Helen faced her three-year journey with cancer with extraordinary strength and grace before passing away in 2021 at the age of 76. She was a gifted artist, craftsperson, and a devoted servant to her community, giving so much of her time, creativity, and love to support women, children, and families throughout Western Australia. Her life reminded us that true impact is measured not by what we achieve for ourselves, but by the difference we make in the lives of others.

This year, our team begins a new chapter as The Ripple Effect.

The name reflects a simple but powerful truth: every act of kindness creates ripples that extend far beyond what we can see. Helen's life created countless ripples through her generosity, compassion, and service. Those ripples continue today - in the people she inspired, the lives she touched, and in everyone who chooses to carry that spirit forward.

While Helen's legacy remains at the heart of our team, The Ripple Effect has become a timeless home for honouring everyone whose lives have been touched by cancer. We walk in loving memory of family members, friends, colleagues, and community members we have lost. We walk beside those who are courageously facing cancer today. We celebrate survivors whose resilience gives us hope, and we acknowledge the families, carers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and volunteers whose quiet acts of support create ripples of hope every single day.

Every lap we walk and every dollar raised helps fund life-saving cancer research, prevention programs, and vital support services. More importantly, it reminds us that even the smallest action can become part of something much bigger.
