I'm stepping up against cancer!

In 2026, I made the decision to take part in Relay For Life. For a lot of people, it’s a community event. For me, it’s something much deeper.

Last year, in 2025, I lost my mum to cancer.

That loss changes the way you look at things. It changes what matters, what motivates you, and what you’re willing to stand up for. Joining Relay For Life this year isn’t just about walking laps or raising money — it’s about honouring her, remembering her strength, and doing something positive in her name.

Cancer affects nearly every family in some way. Before losing Mum, I understood that in theory. Now I understand it in a very real and personal way. I saw firsthand how strong she was through everything she faced, and that strength is something I carry with me into this event.

Relay For Life is about community, remembrance, and hope. It brings people together who are fighting cancer, who have survived cancer, and who are remembering loved ones we’ve lost. Walking alongside others who share similar experiences reminds me that none of us are alone in this.

A big reason I signed up this year is to help raise funds that support cancer research, patient care programs, and local support services. Those services matter. They make a difference when families need them most.

But more than anything, I’m walking for Mum.

Every lap I take is for her memory. Every dollar raised is a step toward helping other families avoid the same loss. And every conversation started about Relay For Life helps keep awareness strong in our community.

If you’re thinking about getting involved, I encourage you to do it. Walk, donate, volunteer, or simply come along and support someone who is participating. Events like this show just how powerful a community can be when people come together for a shared cause.

Relay For Life 2026 isn’t just another date on the calendar for me. It’s personal. It’s meaningful. And it’s a chance to turn loss into something that helps others.

This year, I walk with purpose. I walk with memory. And I walk for Mum. 💛
