Welcome to Adelaide Hills Relay For Life 2026!
This overnight team event raises vital funds for Cancer Council’s, prevention, research and support services.
Why Relay For Life?
Relay For Life is a chance for your community to recognise and celebrate local cancer survivors, as well as those currently going through a cancer experience and their carers. It also honours and remembers the loved ones lost to cancer while raising funds to help change lives through cancer prevention programs, research and support services.
What does it involve?
Relay For Life is an overnight, team event which involves walking or running laps —whatever pace you’re comfortable with—to support Cancer Council’s vital cancer prevention, research and support services.
It is suitable for all ages and fitness levels; you don’t need to be an athlete to participate. We recommend putting together a team of minimum six people, but you can have as many you like! The classic format of Relay For Life involves having at least one person from your team walking or running laps at any one time across the full duration of the event (up to 20 hours).
However, you can participate in whatever way suits you – whether you choose to walk as a team, sub in and out for your teammates, choose to take on a shorter duration or plan as many breaks as you like.
Is it just about walking or running for a long time?
Relay For Life is so much more! Teams are encouraged to come up with their own theme and some colourful costumes. Throughout the afternoon, evening and early morning, you can expect to participate in novelty games and challenges as well as enjoying music, food, fundraising and great company. There are also moments of reflection and community togetherness, including the Candlelight Ceremony. Many participants choose to pitch a tent or roll out sleeping bags at the communal team site to make the most of the event.
