Walking because I can

This year I've signed my whole family up for Relay For Life Illawarra. In the past I've done the sound engineering for the event, and last year I was too sick with chemo, but this time we'll be out on the track ourselves.

The timing's awkward - it falls right between two cancer surgeries of my own (liver in September, lung in November). So we probably won't be there for the whole 24 hours ... but we'll be there. Because showing up matters.

My cousin has been relaying for years in memory of her dad, my Uncle Alberto, who kept walking every year until cancer took him. If it ends up taking me too, I want my daughters Jolie and Bella to have this as a positive tradition they can hold onto. A place to remember, connect, and keep walking with family and friends who get it.
