Fighting against the odds - for Dad
On the 10th July 2025,
I took my dad for an MRI for an injury that started at work (the scan shows that he has a completely torn rotator cuff and multiple tears in the surrounding ligaments).
While having the MRI, they also discovered that he has a tumour occupying most of the head of the humerus with a pathological fracture through it.
Since then, he has had other scans and biopsies to get a diagnosis,
Unfortunately, the diagnosis is that he has a rare malignant cancer called plasmacytoma in his shoulder (refer to the image attached).
He also has a systemic blood cancer called multiple myeloma,
There is no cure to this, but we are hoping for a miracle!
With radiation therapy, chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant we are hoping that Dad goes into remission!
We are hoping that he can have his rotator cuff repaired so that he can get back to doing the things he loves!
1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime so let’s try beat it together, by creating more awareness, getting checked more often and raising funds to find cures!
In 2024, more than 150,000 Australians received the news of having cancer!
