$25 per person
$30 per person on the day
Please note that tops are not included in the registration fee. They can be purchased for an additional $15.
Refund Policy
Cancer Council do not offer refunds and our general policy is to treat your money as a donation. Should you have made an error whilst registering or donating please contact your local Cancer Council office for assistance.
Information
COVID-19 restrictions and requirements are forever changing, and as a result, this Relay For Life event is subject to change. Here at Cancer Council Tasmania, we are doing our best to stay on top of these shifting requirements to ensure our events are safe and adhere to Tasmanian Government guidelines. We will do our best to notify Relay For Life participants of these changes as they occur.
Please note that for the safety of all our participants, Relay For Life events will be registration only.

On The Day
What happens on the day?
Get excited because the Relay has arrived! Head on down early to check-in and pick up an event program, site map and shirts or merchandise at the registration desk upon arrival.
Here's what to expect at Relay. Check with your Relay Event Coordinator: Alicia van Ek, 6169 1955, avanek@cancertas.org.au for special info about the Huon Valley 2022 Relay:
- Opening Ceremony
- Survivors and Carers Walk
- Luminary (Rememberance) Ceremony
- Closing Ceremony
- Entertainment, kids activities, live music and competitions (throughout the day and night)
- Complimentary cold breakfast
- Keep those team members walking!
You don’t have to stay on the track all night, but we encourage teams to have at least one person on the track at all times to get the most out of your Relay experience.
What to bring to Relay
Be sure to come to Relay prepared! Check the forecast the night before and be prepared for inclement weather. Remember, Relay runs overnight and can be cold.Here’s a list of things that teams should be sure to have handy on the day:
- Camping gear (tent, folding chair, sleeping bag, pillow, blankets, esky, keep cup, water bottle, food and drink)
- Plastic sheeting or rubber-backed rug (good on cold or damp ground)
- Campsite decorations and team banners
- Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and lip balm
- Your Relay For Life top
- Comfortable walking/running shoes
- Warm clothing (pants, jackets, beanies, gloves, etc.)
- Wet weather gear (raincoat, poncho, umbrella, etc.)
- A change of clothes
- Torch and spare batteries
- Team costumes
- Spending money and loose change (to purchase food, a candle bag, merchandise or an activity)
- Camera to capture those special moments
What not to bring
- Alcohol
- Pets (guide dogs and service dogs are welcome)
- Bikes, scooters or roller blades/skates
- Glass containers or bottles
- Fundraising money that you want to bank (please bank any money prior to the event or the next business day after Relay)
- Remember, Relay For Life is a smoke-free event.

Under 18s
Youth Policy
The Cancer Council requires that every person under the age of 18 must have approval by a parent or guardian to register for and participate in Relay For Life events.
Youth Teams
Cancer Council Tasmania requires that teams where the majority of members are under 18 must have two registered adult supervisors present at all times throughout the Relay For Life event. Youth Team Supervisors must be over 21 years of age and are responsible for the behaviour and conduct of the youth they oversee.
Code of Conduct for Youth Teams
We want all participants to enjoy their Relay For Life experience. Common sense is key to everyone having a good time. This means considering and being respectful of the needs of other participants, abiding by the event rules and complying with all reasonable requests from members of the organising committee or Cancer Council Tasmania staff.
COVID-19 information
COVID-19 Management
To manage COVID-19 safely:
- Please do not attend this event if you are feeling unwell or are showing any symptoms of COVID-19.
- Every patron will be required to maintain 1.5m physical distance where physically possible at all times.
- Please practice good hygiene at the event (ie. cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing, wash your hands with soap and use hand sanitiser).
Face Masks
The Tasmanian Government has updated its advice about wearing masks.
We continue to encourage patrons to wear a face mask when possible to protect yourself and those immunocompromised among us that may be attending Relay For Life.
If you have questions, please contact your Relay For Life coordinator.
RFL-branded facemasks will be available for purchase at the merchandise marquee. Disposable facemasks will be available at the information/registration marquee.

Compliance
There will be dedicated COVID-19 marshals who will have a direct responsibility for engaging with patrons about COVID safe behaviours. COVID-19 marshals will be visible, easily identifiable and appropriately trained. Patrons not adhering to the plan will be spoken to and if still not adhering, removed from the venue.

Where the money goes
Here's how you're making a difference
$10 Helps us to provide free exercise programs to assist cancer patients in building strength and fitness during treatment.
$30 Helps transport cancer patients to and from their treatment.
$50 Helps our cancer support line 13 11 20 provide free and confidential support on all aspects of cancer.
$200 Adds a wig to our library for lending to clients who are experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment.
Seize the Day Educational Scholarship

How we helped in the last year
$5.8 million+ has been invested into cancer research over the past 26 years.
253,892 is the number of times our prevention messages were seen online by Tasmanians.
66,800 Tasmanian children (and their families) are part of the SunSmart program in childcare and schools across the state.
500+ wigs are now available to those experiencing hairloss due to cancer treatment
$30,000 of Seize the Day Scholarships were awarded to 29 brave young people who have been impacted by cancer.
238,000km's were covered by our transport2treatment drivers - that's the equivalent of driving around the world nearly 6 times!
