For those who know me well, you know the passion I hold for the Hills Relay for Life charity. But for those who may not be aware of the driving force behind my dedication, I want to take a moment to share.

Every year, my husband Rod and I have the privilege of walking the Survivors lap at HILLS Relay For Life. It's a moment that holds immense significance for both of us, representing hope, resilience, and the power of community support.

In 2012, I was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, and then in 2017, just before Christmas, Rodney received the life-altering news of Merkel Cell Carcinoma. But here's the thing – Rodney is still here today because of a clinical trial he had the opportunity to participate in. The chance he was given, the breakthroughs made possible through research, are nothing short of miraculous. And for that, we are eternally grateful.

Hills Relay for Life isn't just about walking laps or raising funds – although those are crucial aspects. It's about fueling the relentless pursuit of knowledge, treatments, and support programs that can make a difference in the lives of those facing cancer. It's about standing in solidarity with every individual and family affected by this disease, offering hope and strength in the face of adversity.

So, why do I invest so much time and energy into this charity? Because I've seen firsthand the impact it can have. Because I believe in its mission to fund vital research and support programs. And because I know that every step we take, every dollar we raise, brings us one step closer to a future where cancer is no longer a threat.
