Darwin 2022

I relay because...

My younger sister Paula sadly lost her battle against breast cancer on the 9th May 2022.

She had planned to fundraise for a UK cancer charity (Macmillans) by doing a 40km walk from Coast to Coast called The Mighty Hike.

I have decided to walk in her honour and commit to also walk 40km  while raising funds here in Darwin as part of the SonD team (in honour of a friend and her family) and in the UK for Paula's chosen charity as she had planned.

Beating cancer, finding new treatments and early detection is important to us all, so the more we can raise the better outcomes we will see in the future across the globe.

Please dig deep and share my fundraising page - I will record my progress throughout the Relay for Life event which also aligns with the Mighty Hike in the UK taking place on the same weekend.

Thank you for supporting me and a cause that is so close to my heart. XXX

So far this year I've helped provide:

My Updates

As easy as riding a bike.

After a short and relaxing stint on my bike yesterday I thought I’d cover my daily distance on a bike ride today. It’s been many, many years since I rode my bike for any lengthy duration so my legs and bottom are in a state of shock right now 🤣
Tomorrow will be a walk I think 🤔

Less than a week to go!

I’ve been walking a fair bit lately and covered 12.5km this morning to focus on increasing my daily distance during this week rather than speed. I backed it up tonight with a bike ride along the Foreshore to work a different muscle group (& give my knees a rest) while we had some family time.
To those who have donated already… a huge thankyou ❤️
By this time next week my 40km commitment will be over - I’m planning the next fundraising goal already.

My 40km commitment.

My younger sister Paula decided to walk 40km during the Mighty Hike Coast to Coast (UK) to raise money for the McMillan cancer charity in honour of our Mum who lost her battle with breast cancer at only 51 years old. (1992)
Sadly Paula also had breast cancer and she too lost her battle on the 9th May 2022 at the age of 56.
The Mighty Hike takes place on the same weekend as the Relay for Life, so I have decided to walk in Paulas shoes and cover the 40km she committed to walking hoping to raise money on both sides of the globe.
I am participating here in Darwin as a member of the SonD team and hope we can raise funds to help with new treatments & better outcomes for those who face lives affected by cancer.
Dig deep, every single donation no matter how big or small can help.
Thank you ❤️
